What is the opportunity?
As a Manager, Data Analytics and Operations, you’ll work in the FRO Data team supporting the team build and maintain the bank’s next generation data architecture solution for Regulatory and Economic Capital Measurement. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing in-depth data analysis, ensuring data quality and integrity, and contributing to effective data management practices. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in SQL, Python, Tableau, and Excel, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights to support business objectives.
What will you do?
- Conduct comprehensive data analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and correlations across various banking datasets, including Wholesale, Retail and client data.
- Develop and apply a range of analytical techniques, including exploratory data analysis (EDA), descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and potentially predictive modeling, to extract meaningful insights from data.
- Interpret analytical results within the context of capital and risk weighted assets.
- Analyze the impact of business initiatives and external factors on Risk Weighted Assets and Capital Ratios of the bank.
- Investigate data discrepancies and anomalies to understand root causes and propose solutions.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for senior management.
- Collaborate with downstream business units to understand their data needs, formulate analytical questions, and provide data-driven solutions that address their specific challenges.
- Perform rigorous data quality checks and implement procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, working with relevant teams to implement data cleansing and validation processes.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau to communicate key findings and insights effectively.
- Create clear and concise reports and presentations for various audiences, including senior management.
- Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data analytics and related fields.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of data analytics capabilities within the bank.
What you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in a data analytics role, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Demonstrated advanced experience in SQL is required for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Solid experience with Python and relevant data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
- Proven ability to create compelling data visualizations and interactive dashboards using Tableau.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel particularly in Pivot Tables, VBA, Macros are required for this role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Automation skills using Python or other scripting languages.
- Knowledge of distributed computing and cloud data warehousing (e.g. Spark, DataBricks, Snowflake)
- Knowledge of bank capital measurement concepts (e.g., RWA, capital ratios) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and practices.
- Experience with data quality tools and platforms.
- Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Certifications related to data management or financial risk management.
