The Role:
The Training & Quality Data Specialist will be pivotal in the Transcription Training & Quality Department. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire training lifecycle for Transcripts employees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality transcripts through effective training and quality assurance processes. The Specialist will collaborate with various teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The Team:
The Transcripts Department is primarily responsible for transcribing financial conference calls while also collecting essential business information, including corporate executive data, to enhance the company’s comprehensive financial data platform during off-peak periods. The Transcription Training and Quality Department within S&P Market Intelligence oversees the entire employee lifecycle from a Learning and Development perspective, ensuring quality control over the accuracy and efficiency of produced transcripts. This department creates, manages, and executes training programs for all roles, ensuring the timely delivery of precise text transcripts from financial calls.
Additionally, the department comprises specialized teams focused on scoping, editing, proofing, and auditing, all contributing to high-quality transcript production. It establishes and implements Learning and Development roadmaps for Scopists and Editors, ensuring employees meet business needs effectively. The Specialist will also oversee transcription proofing and auditing, ensuring compliance with internal quality control processes. The ideal candidate will possess experience in managing transcription training, publishing, or editing departments, with a strong focus on training and quality deliverables.
The Transcription Training & Quality Specialist will directly report to the Transcription Training & Quality Manager.
Responsibilities and Impact:
- Training Development and Delivery:
- Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training curricula for new hires and ongoing employee development, including advanced and cross-training courses.
- Facilitate individual training plans and conduct regular coaching and mentoring sessions for staff in training, incubation, and production phases.
- Conduct pre-employment testing and trainee appraisals to assess candidate suitability for roles in scoping, editing, proofing, etc.
- Quality Assurance and Monitoring:
- Monitor and manage transcription auditing and proofing workflows to ensure compliance with internal quality control processes and timely delivery of transcripts.
- Perform sanity checks on documents and report any system issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide regular feedback to management on class performance, staff behavior, and opportunities for improvement.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Champion continuous improvement of internal processes to enhance efficiency in delivery and workflow.
- Participate in special projects aimed at improving overall transcript quality and operational effectiveness.
- Regularly update training materials and curricula based on feedback and industry best practices.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and performance metrics.
- Regularly update department-mandated reports to track progress against training goals and quotas.
- Draft and disseminate important documents regarding workflow changes, policies, and other departmental agendas.
Qualifications & Skill Set:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in Training and Development within editing or publishing environments, preferably in transcripts.
- Strong command of written and conversational English; excellent communication skills are essential.
- Proven training and quality audit experience, with a strong background in curriculum development and new hire training.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and experience in data analysis, reporting, and monitoring.
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and experience in any content authoring tool would be a plus.
